A 36-year-old woman was found shot to death inside a vehicle early Wednesday morning in southeast Atlanta, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting just before 1:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Springside Place SE. When they arrived, they discovered the woman in the driver’s seat of a Range Rover parked in the middle of the street. She had been struck multiple times by gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.

Atlanta Police Lt. Christapher Butler said investigators are still in the early stages of the case. Preliminary information suggests that someone fired into the vehicle, hitting the woman multiple times.

“We’re still looking for video cameras in the area. We’ve got a general idea of the route that was taken, so we’re going to have to backtrack to figure out the exact circumstances and determine if anyone was with her,” Butler said.

Police are working to gather surveillance footage and speak with neighbors as they piece together what happened. Officials emphasized that tips from the public can play a critical role in solving cases like this.

“We push Crimestoppers a lot. It’s anonymous, and it’s very valuable,” Butler said. “If anyone has information, we encourage them to come forward.”
