An investigation has been launched into the in-custody death of Ammarin Lada Tunstall, 35, of Monroeville, Alabama, after a viral clip appeared to show police handling his body at the scene.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed that its State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) began investigating the incident on Monday, March 30, at the request of the Monroeville Police Department.

According to an official press release, Tunstall was taken into custody by Monroeville police officers earlier that day. During the course of the incident, he became unresponsive.

Emergency personnel administered Naloxone (Narcan), a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, before transporting him to a local hospital. Authorities said Tunstall was later pronounced dead.
