An 18-year-old high school senior is being remembered for her “warm spirit” and “beautiful smile” after she was killed in a tragic car crash following prom night in Douglasville, Georgia.

Patience Price, a student at Chapel Hill High School, died in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 28, after the vehicle she was riding in crashed, according to reports.

Details of the Fatal Prom Night Crash

The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Rosemont Drive near Chapel Hill Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Investigators say Price was a passenger in a Mercedes that was traveling at a high rate of speed while navigating a curve. The vehicle reportedly veered off the roadway, struck an embankment, became airborne, and overturned multiple times.

Authorities said Price was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were two other individuals in the car, including the driver and another passenger in the back seat. Both were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver sustained minor injuries, while the other passenger suffered serious injuries.

Officials noted that the driver showed no signs of impairment.

School Community Responds

Chapel Hill High School, part of the Douglas County School System, notified families following the tragedy and made grief counselors available on campus to support students and staff.

The sudden loss has deeply impacted the local community, especially classmates and friends who had celebrated prom just hours earlier.

Remembering Patience Price

Friends and family describe Price as a kind and loving person with a bright future ahead.

“She was always there for me anytime I needed her. And she just had so much love,” her friend Jazzlyn Scott said. “She had so much to live for. She had graduated early. She didn’t even get to walk the stage.”

Scott added, “The picture is so clear in my mind of her… it’s insane that I will never be able to speak to her or hug her.”

A GoFundMe organized by her mother, Kimberly Jones, describes Price as a dedicated student who had previously faced kidney health challenges with strength and resilience.

“Our sweet Patience, lovingly known as ‘PayPay,’ was truly a light in our lives,” Jones wrote. “With her warm spirit and beautiful smile, she had a gentle way of brightening any room she entered.”

“She loved her family deeply and stood by them with a quiet strength that meant so much to us all. Most of all, she loved the Lord, and we hold on to that faith now more than ever,” her mother added.

Her family said they find comfort in believing she is now at peace after courageously battling health challenges.

“While we may never understand why her time with us was cut short, we trust that her life had purpose,” Jones wrote. “The impact she made was quiet but powerful, and it will not be forgotten.”
