Alexander Andree Flores was recognized as the young man who punched a female police officer in downtown McAllen

In the viral video, Alexander Andree Flores is seen striking a female police officer in DT McAllen.

The McAllen Police Department has identified two suspects arrested in connection with the assault of a police officer.

Officers broke up a scuffle and apprehended Sergio Contreras Sandoval, 18, and Alexander Andree Flores, 17. Flores was recognized as the person seen fleeing after assaulting the officer.

McAllen police responded to a “crowd of people screaming” near the intersection of South 17th Street and Beaumont Avenue on Sunday at around 2 a.m.

Responding officers saw multiple males fist fighting and began separating parties.

Sandoval was detained for his involvement in the fight and arrested for public intoxication, resisting arrest and interference with public duties.

An officer attempted to apprehend Flores and was struck by the suspect, causing injury. Flores was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and evading arrest.

Other parties involved in the disturbance remain unknown, and McAllen police continue to investigate the incident, according to the news release. Flores and Sandoval are currently pending arraignment.
