Oscar Giovanni Mata Montes arrested for links to Unión Tepito

The picture of Oscar Giovanni Mata Montes kissing Sandra Cuevas has gone viral.

Oscar Giovanni Mata, a former Cuauhtémoc official and acquaintance of Sandra Cuevas, was detained for possible ties to La Unión Tepito. 

According to the report, Oscar Giovanni Mata was arrested on Thursday, September 25, 2025, during an operation by the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat (CDMX).

On social media, people recalled Sandra Cuevas' assertion that she polished Oscar Giovanni Mata to make him a leader while also giving him work during her time at Cuauhtémoc.

Who is Oscar Giovanni Mata?

Oscar Giovanni Mata was arrested by Mexico City police while in possession of drugs, and was therefore handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

According to images released by C4 Jimenez, Oscar Giovanni Mata Montes was a friend of Sandra Cuevas and an official when she was mayor of Cuauhtémoc.
