Social media personality Clendolita Lashley has spoken out following viral backlash over an incident at a Marriott Hotel buffet, where she reportedly requested to take food to go — a request that hotel staff denied, citing buffet policy.
According to Lashley, she felt bullied by the staff after asking to take some food with her, which she says was met with unnecessary hostility. The hotel’s buffet policy, however, explicitly prohibits takeaway service.
In a statement posted online, Lashley wrote:
“Marriott Hotel saw a lot of people attacking me on social media for eating like I don’t get food at home and wanting to take away their buffet because I don’t know what buffet means. So they called me in and offered me free lunch.”
The post reignited debate online, with many weighing in — including fellow influencer Leon, who urged the public to stop comparing his situation to Lashley’s.
Leon clarified that while he respects buffet rules, he does not condone Lashley’s reaction, saying he supports calm and respectful interactions with hospitality staff.
Another social media user, Nella, sharply criticized Lashley in a lengthy post that quickly went viral:
“Y’all love to play the victim card. Oh, she’s pregnant and y’all bullying her! She is the bully and I stand on that. Didn’t she know she’s pregnant when she decided to go eat out and wanted to take away food from a buffet? Then she came online to bash the staff and the business.”
Nella continued, calling out what she described as Lashley’s attempt to control public opinion:
“You can’t post something online and then try to control how people react. Nobody is bullying a pregnant woman — people are calling her out on her behavior. Being pregnant doesn’t give her a pass to be rude to others.”
The ongoing debate has sparked conversations about customer behavior, social media accountability, and the line between criticism and cyberbullying.
A video of the incident has since circulated widely online, drawing mixed reactions — with some defending Lashley’s frustration, while others insist that hotel policies should always be respected.
