A couple was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide early Friday in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.
Police said officers responded to a residence in the 6600 block of South Normal Avenue just after 2:30 a.m. on October 3rd. Inside, they discovered a 38-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, each with gunshot wounds to the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was recovered.
Family members at the scene described the deaths as a murder-suicide. While authorities have not officially released the victims’ names, social media identified them as Dewanda Dagen, 38, and her longtime boyfriend, Noon Thurmond, 44.
Dagen is alleged to have shot Thurmond before turning the gun on herself. However, conflicting accounts have emerged on social media, with at least one friend of Dagen disputing the narrative of who pulled the trigger, urging the public to wait for the official investigation to determine the facts.

A Facebook tribute post from Erica Elizabeth Clay, a close friend of Dagen, expressed shock and heartbreak:
“You were my friend in REAL LIFE Dewanda… this has left me speechless. The truth will prevail so no one can play on your name. I’m lost and broken, praying for your family especially your Mom, Siblings, Son, and Grandbaby.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact CPD Area One detectives at 312-747-8380 or call 911.
