Georgetown, Guyana — Tragedy struck the West Ruimveldt community on Sunday night when 24-year-old Faynell M. Brewster was shot and killed by armed robbers at her home.

According to reports, the horrifying incident occurred just after 11 p.m. when Brewster’s brother was trailed by a bandit on a motorcycle. Upon reaching their home, the suspect reportedly chased after him into the yard, attempting to rob him.

While her brother managed to escape into the house, eyewitnesses say the armed assailant opened fire, hitting Faynell Brewster multiple times — once in the chest and again in her arm.

Her brother and a close friend, Mickella, rushed her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Recalling the devastating moment, Mickella shared her grief online:

“When I got the news that Faynele was shot, I ran to her. She was in the back seat of the car, lifeless on my lap. I cried, I prayed, I begged her to fight for Dakari. When the doctor pronounced her dead, the world went silent.”

Preliminary investigations suggest that the robbers gained entry into the home during a struggle over valuables. However, instead of their intended target, they fatally shot Brewster before fleeing on a motorcycle.

The brutal killing has left the community in mourning, with an outpouring of grief on social media. One local, Atika, wrote:

“You didn’t deserve this, Faynell M. Brewster. You had such a bright spirit and a big heart. Rest in peace, beautiful.”

Another post read:

“Still can’t believe that a young, innocent life was taken so cruelly in her own home — a place that should have been her safest space.”

Investigations are ongoing, and police are working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
