Georgeina Hayes Arrested After 5-Month-Old Baby Suffers Skull Fracture During Violent Altercation in Fort Pierce, Florida

Fort Pierce, Florida – Authorities in St. Lucie County have arrested 38-year-old Georgeina Hayes after a 5-month-old infant was hospitalized with a skull fracture and multiple injuries following a violent domestic altercation.

According to a statement from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (LSCO), the incident occurred on Thursday, October 16, around 10:56 a.m., when a detective with the Fort Pierce Police Department (FPPD) reported that a baby had been taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, including a fractured skull and visible bruising on the arm and leg.

Detective P. Taylor with the sheriff’s office launched an investigation, conducting interviews and collecting evidence that indicated the injuries occurred during a domestic dispute involving Georgeina Hayes and an unidentified adult female victim.

Investigators allege that during the altercation, Hayes attempted to strangle the adult woman. The victim reportedly managed to escape her grasp, grabbed the infant, and ran into a bedroom seeking safety.

“As she tried to close the door, Hayes began throwing punches, several of which struck the five-month-old infant,” authorities stated. “The blows resulted in the injuries to the infant.”

Hayes was arrested and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail, where she faces charges of battery by strangulation (domestic) and aggravated child abuse. Her bond has been set at $55,000.

At this time, officials have not disclosed the current condition of the infant or clarified the relationship between Hayes, the victim, and the child. It is also unclear whether Hayes has obtained legal representation.

In a public statement, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Fort Pierce Police Department for their swift coordination and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting vulnerable victims:

“The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office thanks FPPD for the swift coordination between agencies and remains committed to pursuing justice for the most vulnerable members of our community.”
