La Maggie armed woman arrested in Brighton Park, Chicago ramming which involved ICE agents being doxed and boxed in by ten cars

Federal immigration enforcement in Chicago turned violent on Saturday morning when an armed woman was arrested following a chaotic confrontation in Brighton Park that saw ICE agents boxed in by multiple vehicles and demonstrators clashing with federal officers.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were conducting operations near 39th Street and Kedzie Avenue when they were surrounded by ten vehicles. Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin confirmed that one of the drivers, a woman identified on social media as “La Maggie,” was allegedly armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

Officials said ICE agents responded by firing defensive shots. La Maggie was struck, later found in “fair condition,” and transported to a local hospital, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, citing the Fire Department. Early reports that she had driven herself to the hospital were later corrected.

No ICE agents were injured in the incident.

Authorities allege that La Maggie had been associated with an online bulletin called “ICE Sighting-Chicagoland” — a platform accused of doxing federal law enforcement officials. Little else is known about her background, though a review of her Facebook profile showed a limited online presence with roughly 144 friends.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m., quickly drawing demonstrators who gathered in the Brighton Park neighborhood chanting “ICE go home.” As tensions escalated, federal agents deployed pepper balls and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Skirmishes continued into the afternoon until ICE officers withdrew from the area around 4 p.m.

Saturday’s confrontation comes amid the Trump administration’s controversial immigration enforcement campaign, “Operation Midway Blitz.” Launched earlier in September, the initiative has already led to more than 900 arrests across Chicago, with DHS officials saying the effort specifically targets “criminal illegal aliens.”

Critics, however, accuse federal agents of overreach, racial profiling, and harming immigrant communities, pointing to recent raids on residential buildings in which families, including children, were detained for hours regardless of immigration status.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker condemned the operations, ordering state agencies to explore ways of holding federal authorities accountable. In one recent raid, DHS confirmed 37 undocumented individuals were arrested, some with criminal records, including two alleged members of a Venezuelan gang.

DHS has since blamed Chicago and Illinois’ sanctuary laws, which bar local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE, for what it calls “dangerous conditions” during its operations.
