Killingly, Connecticut – A Connecticut woman, Michelle Yeagher, 65, has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing her stepson, Andrew Michael Olson, 39, while he was watching Toy Story with a 12-year-old boy — believed to be his son — on Monday night. Authorities say Yeagher was heavily intoxicated at the time of the fatal shooting.
According to Connecticut State Police, the incident occurred around 9:21 p.m. in a Killingly residence. Investigators allege that Yeagher walked into the room where Olson and the 12-year-old were watching the movie and opened fire, striking Olson multiple times.
During questioning, Yeagher reportedly claimed that Olson had “tried to kill me,” before admitting that she shot him “multiple times.” When asked about the location of the weapon, she allegedly told officers she was unsure where the gun had been placed. Police noted that Yeagher appeared to be “highly intoxicated.”
12-Year-Old Witnessed the Shooting
The 12-year-old boy, who witnessed the tragedy, told detectives that he and Olson were watching Toy Story when Yeagher suddenly entered the room and fired the shots, according to WPRI.

The victim, Andrew Michael Olson, was transported to Day Kimball Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, WVIT reported.

Community Reacts to Tragedy
A Facebook post from Seth Stamour expressed sorrow and disbelief over the tragedy, writing in part:
“People with mental illness and not getting it taken care of… poor Andrew Olson, what a great guy. I’m glad I had the chance to work alongside him for a good four or five years. He definitely didn’t deserve to go out like that — getting shot in the chest right next to his son while watching a movie by his stepmother, who is apparently a severe alcoholic and has underlying issues.”
A GoFundMe campaign launched to assist with funeral expenses described Olson as “a kind, generous man, and a loving father, son, brother, and friend” with “a heart of gold.”
