Sanford, Florida – A Florida man, Donovan Faison, 23, has been found guilty of first-degree murder for the killing of his 18-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Kaylin Fiengo, after she refused to have an abortion. Prosecutors say Faison shot the teen in 2022 after repeated arguments about her decision to keep the baby.
A Seminole County jury deliberated for less than two hours before convicting Faison on charges of first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child, and burglary, according to WKMG News 6. The verdict opens the door for the death penalty, which prosecutors are now seeking during the trial’s penalty phase.
Murder Over Refusal to End Pregnancy
According to court testimony, Faison had been pressuring Fiengo to terminate her pregnancy after discovering she was three months pregnant. When she refused, the two reportedly had several heated arguments.

Relationship Turmoil and Motive
At the time of the killing, Faison was romantically involved with another woman, with whom he shared a baby. Reports indicate that Fiengo had recently learned about the relationship and ended things with Faison, though she was still trying to navigate co-parenting discussions with him.
Despite her decision to keep the pregnancy, Faison allegedly viewed the child as a threat to his other relationship — leading to a violent end.
Evidence and Arrest
Investigators were able to connect Faison to the crime after a friend of Fiengo told detectives that the teen said she was going to meet him at the park the night of her death. That information, coupled with forensic evidence, placed Faison at the scene.

Family Finds Some Relief After Verdict
For Fiengo’s family, the guilty verdict offers a small measure of justice. Speaking to FOX 35 Orlando, her aunt, Tatiana Fiengo, said:
“We’ve been waiting a long time for this. It doesn’t bring her back, but at least he’s not out hurting other people.”
The sentencing phase of Donovan Faison’s trial began Wednesday, with prosecutors seeking the death penalty for the 2022 murder.
