NMU Student Minenhle Hlongwane Stabbed to Death During Off-Campus Attack in Summerstrand

Nelson Mandela University (NMU) has been left in mourning following the tragic death of Minenhle Hlongwane, a student who was stabbed to death during a break-in at an off-campus student residence in Summerstrand.

According to reports, Hlongwane and fellow student Mabli were attacked during the incident. Hlongwane succumbed to injuries at the scene, while Mabli survived and is currently receiving medical treatment.

In an official statement, the university expressed shock and deep sorrow, extending condolences to Hlongwane’s family, friends, and peers.

“We wish the injured student a full and speedy recovery,” the university said, adding that counselling and psychosocial support have been made available through the Emthonjeni Student Wellness Unit.

NMU officials confirmed that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities as investigations into the fatal attack continue.
