Melodee Buzzard: 9-Year-Old Lompoc Girl Missing for Over a Year as Mother, Ashlee Buzzard, Gives Vague Answers [PHOTOS]

Authorities in Santa Barbara County, California, have launched an urgent search for 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard, who was last seen more than a year ago and has not appeared in any recent photographs for nearly two years.

According to a statement released Tuesday by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after a school administrator reported Melodee’s prolonged absence from school.

When deputies went to the home on the 500 block of Mars Avenue in Vandenberg Village, Lompoc, they found no sign of the child. Her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, reportedly failed to provide a clear or consistent explanation for her daughter’s whereabouts.

Although the missing person’s case is only one day old, investigators say they have been unable to verify any sightings of Melodee in roughly a year. The most recent photo of the girl was taken at least two years ago, according to KTLA.

Concern over Melodee’s disappearance has spread rapidly online. Michele Hernandez, in a Facebook post, pleaded for help, writing:

“Please, urgent — this is my ex-boyfriend who passed away’s 9-year-old daughter. She hasn’t been seen in over a year! She lives in the Village in Lompoc and her mother is Ashlee Buzzard. Pray for her safety. The mom battles with mental health issues. Please share this!”

Hernandez included photos of both Melodee and Ashlee Buzzard in her post.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information or sightings of the missing girl to come forward immediately.

“Even small details may be critical in helping investigators ensure her safety,” officials stated.
