According to Connecticut State Police, a Silver Alert was issued on June 8 after a family member reported Fleming and her newborn missing. That relative told investigators that Fleming had been “hearing voices” and behaving erratically during the days leading up to the incident.
Hours later, troopers located Fleming walking alone along a rural road. Her clothing was soaked through, and police noted her mental state appeared altered. When asked repeatedly about the whereabouts of her baby, Fleming replied, “What baby?”

Roughly an hour later, officers discovered baby Hudson’s body submerged in Mallory Brook, not far from where his mother had been found. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives learned that Fleming had a documented history of mental illness, including episodes of psychosis and self-harm dating back to 2019. Police said she had recently sought telehealth treatment for worsening paranoia and manic thoughts but was not prescribed new medication due to her ongoing breastfeeding.
During questioning, Fleming allegedly told investigators she believed “Illuminati people” were trying to get her and that she woke up feeling the need to flee. According to her arrest affidavit, she described taking her mother’s purse, attempting to drive away, and then “trying to escape” people she thought were chasing her.
Police further revealed that the Department of Children and Families (DCF) had an open investigation involving Fleming and that she was fearful her baby would be taken away.
Following her arrest, Fleming was charged with:
-
Murder with special circumstances
-
Risk of injury to a child
She is currently being held at Litchfield County Jail on a $5 million bond, according to WFSB.
Authorities have requested continued psychiatric evaluation as the investigation remains ongoing.
