Tyler Pavlick, Iowa Man Faces Nearly 100 Charges After Allegedly Hiding Cameras in Porta-Potties and Filming Dozens, Including Children
An Iowa man, identified as Tyler Pavlick, 32, of Des Moines, is facing nearly 100 criminal charges after allegedly hiding cameras inside portable toilets at public events and secretly recording dozens of adults and children, authorities said.

Pavlick was arrested on Wednesday, October 15, and charged with seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor — cause to engage in act, and three counts of invasion of privacy involving nudity, according to online court records.

Investigators say Pavlick placed small cameras beneath toilet seats, recording victims’ faces and bodies as they used the facilities, per KCRG.

The investigation began after a camera was discovered on October 4 inside a portable restroom at the Harvest & Handmade Fair at Water Works Park in Des Moines.

Police later connected that incident to another case at the Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center, where a camera was found on September 23 during a West Marshall Community School District cross-country meet. That event involved middle and high school students from several schools.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, participants noticed what appeared to be a concealed camera, which they turned over to authorities. Surveillance footage captured a partial image of a suspect and vehicle, later linked to Pavlick.

On October 6, Des Moines police detectives and Marshall County investigators coordinated their efforts, with digital evidence reportedly tying Pavlick to both incidents.

Pavlick now faces an additional 36 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor — cause to engage in act, one count of sexual exploitation of a minor — promote film, and 52 counts of invasion of privacy involving nudity, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Authorities say more charges may follow as additional victims are identified.
