August Marriott, San Diego Man Who Trashed Santee Hair Salon Over Late Appointment, Faces 6 Years in Prison

San Diego County, California – A California man identified as August Marriott, 28, is facing up to six years in prison after a viral outburst inside a Santee hair salon earlier this year — an incident that stemmed from a missed hair appointment and escalated into vandalism and assault.

Marriott was captured on camera berating employees and throwing bottles inside a Great Clips salon on Mission Gorge Road in Santee on January 29. The shocking footage, widely shared online, showed him screaming profanities, knocking over hair products, and vandalizing the salon after arriving late for his scheduled appointment.

According to NBC San Diego, one employee sustained minor injuries during the chaos.

‘We Didn’t Know How He Was Going to Act’

Salon stylist Jessica Schirmer, who recorded the viral video, described the terrifying encounter.

“I’m pretty shaken up because we didn’t know if he had anything in his pockets — a weapon, a knife,” Schirmer told NBC 7. “You don’t know how someone’s going to act when they just kind of snap like that.”

Employees called the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, but Marriott fled before deputies arrived. Authorities later identified and arrested him with help from the public.

Repeat Offender With a Prior Conviction

In February, Marriott was arrested in Chula Vista and booked into the San Diego Central Jail on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and parole violation.

According to KFMB-TV, Marriott was already on parole for a 2023 conviction involving another violent incident — an assault on employees and patrons at a Jack in the Box restaurant after he couldn’t pay for his meal.

Despite initially posting bail, Marriott failed to appear in court for his arraignment, prompting a warrant for his arrest. He was later captured in Florida and extradited back to California.

Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Following his most recent court appearance, Marriott pleaded guilty to assault and admitted to a prior strike conviction, the San Diego District Attorney’s Office confirmed.

Online records also show that Marriott has previously used aliases, including Cooper Hill and Juan Martinez.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on November 18, where he now faces a six-year prison term under California’s repeat offender laws.
