A shocking case of privilege gone wrong has emerged in Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania, where Dalton Lee Janiczek (21) — the son of prominent attorney Lee Janiczek — has been arrested and charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer after allegedly trying to run over police officers during a traffic stop in Plymouth Township.

The incident unfolded around noon on Friday, October 24, when a police sergeant attempted to pull over Janiczek, who was reportedly speeding in his father’s Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, a luxury SUV valued at around $186,000. Instead of stopping, Janiczek allegedly sped away, driving erratically and crossing over a concrete median.

Janiczek, 21, fled a traffic stop, then mowed down two cops when they found him Friday, authorities said.
Police later located the vehicle in a parking lot near the DoubleTree Guest Suites Hotel in Plymouth Township. As officers approached, Janiczek allegedly reversed the SUV multiple times into a police cruiser. One officer exited his vehicle and ordered him to stop, but according to arrest documents, Janiczek accelerated directly at the officer, forcing the officer to discharge his weapon.

Despite being fired upon, Janiczek allegedly struck the officer, knocking him to the ground. As the wounded officer attempted to apply a tourniquet to his leg, Janiczek reportedly circled back and hit him three more times before speeding off.

While fleeing the scene, Janiczek allegedly crashed head-on into another Plymouth Township patrol car, injuring a second officer. Both officers were transported to a nearby hospital; one underwent emergency surgery. Authorities confirmed both remain in stable condition.

Janiczek was later apprehended and taken into custody. He now faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and fleeing or attempting to elude police.

Court records show that Janiczek, a student at Loyola Marymount University in California, lives with his parents at their $1.4 million home in Ambler, Pennsylvania. His father, Lee Janiczek, is a partner at Lewis Brisbois LLP, a major law firm representing corporations and insurance companies.

Despite his privileged background and athletic success — having served as captain of La Salle College High School’s rowing team and currently a member of his university’s rowing program — Dalton Janiczek has amassed a long string of traffic-related offenses. Since 2023, he has faced 11 criminal charges, most related to reckless or careless driving. Nine of those occurred just since June 2025, during three separate traffic stops.

Following his arraignment on Saturday, Janiczek was denied bail and remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on November 4. If convicted, he faces decades in prison for the attempted murder of a Plymouth Township police officer.

Witnesses and police officials have described the attack as one of the most violent assaults on officers the township has seen in recent years, reigniting debate about accountability and privilege in the justice system.
