Anya ‘Nya’ Raymond Found Shot Dead and Dumped on Milwaukee Street as Young Son Discovered Wandering Miles Away

Authorities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, are investigating a heartbreaking case after Anya “Nya” Raymond, 31, was found shot to death and left in an alley, while her young son was discovered wandering barefoot miles away just hours earlier.

According to Milwaukee police, officers responded around 9 a.m. on November 5 to a report of a woman lying unresponsive near 41st and Hampton Avenue. The victim, later identified as Anya Raymond — also spelled A’nya Raymond — had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just five hours before that discovery, around 4 a.m., officers had found a young boy wandering alone near 9th and Keefe, about three miles from where his mother’s body was later found, according to WISN. The child, initially believed to be about 5 or 6 years old and non-verbal, was reportedly barefoot and had blood on his clothes.

Police said the boy was reunited with his family later that afternoon, around 4 p.m., but did not immediately confirm his relationship to Raymond. However, family members and community members on social media have identified the child as her 7-year-old son.

Raymond’s mother, Misty Raymond, spoke to CBS 58, describing the anguish of learning about her daughter’s death after seeing a photo of her grandson circulating online.

“I want to see justice for my daughter. I want to know who did this,”

Misty said police told her the boy had been found wandering the streets alone, without shoes, in the early morning hours. “They said they found him wandering the streets with blood on his clothes and no shoes on,” she told reporters.

A GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to help Misty care for her grandson and cover funeral expenses following the devastating loss.

Local resident Rosetta Lampkin-Johnson, who lives near where Raymond’s body was found, said she hadn’t heard any gunfire before the discovery. She believes the victim may have been killed elsewhere and dumped in the alley.

“She must have been killed somewhere else and brought here,” Lampkin-Johnson told TMJ4. “You don’t want to see something like that happen to anyone. My heart goes out to the family.”

Lampkin-Johnson added that her dog woke her in the middle of the night, hours before police arrived, possibly sensing something outside.

So far, no arrests have been made, and Milwaukee police have not identified any suspects or released potential motives in the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
