The incident occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday night near 39th Street and Lancaster Avenue. Police said Spillner was shot at a residence and died at the scene. A second woman was also shot and taken to the hospital, but later arrested and charged in connection with Spillner’s death, according to WISN.com
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the second woman or clarified whether she and Spillner knew each other. The area where the shooting took place is known locally for crime and drug activity, though investigators have not confirmed what led to the violence.

Spillner was in her final year at Concordia University’s School of Pharmacy and lived in the Menomonee Falls area while attending classes. Before Concordia, she graduated from Deforest High School and played college basketball at Clarke University.
In a statement to WISN 12 News, Concordia University expressed grief over the loss: “The Concordia University community is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Ariel Spillner, a student in our School of Pharmacy. Our hearts and prayers are with Ariel’s family, friends, classmates and all who knew and loved her. Counseling and pastoral care are being offered to members of our campus community as we grieve together.”
