Dallas Walmart shooting at Supercenter leads to man shooting two females in parking lot and then using weapon to kill self

A shooting in the parking lot of a Dallas Walmart Supercenter on Wednesday left two women injured before the gunman fatally shot himself, authorities said.

Police reported that the suspect had followed his romantic partner to the Walmart and opened fire, grazing her with a bullet and injuring a female bystander. The man, who has not yet been identified, was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the black sedan he had used to track the woman.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said both women were transported to a local hospital, where they were stabilized.

The incident took place around 3:20 p.m. in the 9300 block of Forest Lane near Interstate 635, according to WFAA. Witnesses said the parking lot and store were crowded at the time of the shooting.

Several witnesses described a chaotic scene. Teva Watson told WFAA he saw the man exit the sedan and begin chasing the woman through the parking lot.

“I could see her face,” Watson said. “She was frantic. And she started running.”

Watson said he and a few Walmart employees ran to help her. “There was a lot of blood… but she was talking,” he said. Watson retrieved the shopping cart she had been pushing so she could use her phone to call family members.

Another witness, Sirrano Keith Baldeo, told FOX4 that the suspect cornered the woman between two cars and began firing repeatedly. After shooting three to four times, the man fled back to his black sedan, where he turned the gun on himself and ended his life.

Police later searched the vehicle and recovered two firearms, though investigators have not said whether they were legally owned or how long the suspect had been carrying them.

Neither the gunman’s romantic partner nor the bystander he injured have been publicly identified. Both women were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were stabilized and are expected to survive, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Authorities have not yet released details about what led to the confrontation or what may have triggered the suspect to chase and shoot at the woman. The motive remains unclear as detectives continue gathering information.

Police confirmed that a search of the suspect’s black sedan resulted in the recovery of two firearms, though they did not say whether either weapon had been previously reported or linked to other incidents. Detectives are now working to determine how the suspect obtained the guns and whether the attack was premeditated.

Officials said both injured women were taken to a nearby hospital and were stabilized shortly after arrival. Neither victim is believed to have life-threatening injuries, and both are expected to survive, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

The shooting occurred outside the Walmart Supercenter in the Lake Highlands area near the Richardson border—a location that was crowded with afternoon shoppers at the time. Witnesses told local outlets they were stunned to see a chase and gunfire erupt in what is typically a busy but calm parking lot.

Dallas police say the investigation remains active, and detectives are continuing to review video, interview witnesses, and piece together the events that led to the violent confrontation and the suspect’s suicide.
