A Texas mother is demanding justice after disturbing classroom surveillance footage allegedly showed two Brazoria County elementary school teachers assaulting her 5-year-old autistic son, leaving him with a broken ankle.

Guadalupe Rodriguez, the mother of a nonverbal child with autism who attended Wild Peach Elementary School in the Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District, says she was devastated after seeing what happened to her son. The footage, recorded on October 30, reportedly shows teachers Britney Henshaw and Sydney Madill physically assaulting the boy during separate incidents inside his classroom.

One clip allegedly shows a teacher violently slamming the young boy to the floor. Less than an hour earlier, another video appears to capture the same teacher dropping him. Later that day, a separate recording shows another teacher kicking the child’s injured ankle while forcing him to walk, even as he was clearly in pain.

Rodriguez said she knew something was wrong when her son came home limping that afternoon. Alarmed, she took him to urgent care, where doctors confirmed he had both a fractured and sprained ankle. The next day, she went to the school demanding answers. When administrators allowed her to review the surveillance footage, she was horrified to see multiple acts of abuse by the two educators.

Following an internal investigation, Britney Henshaw and Sydney Madill were terminated from their positions. In a letter to parents, the school’s principal confirmed that the incidents were reported to the Texas Education Agency and the Columbia-Brazoria ISD Police Department, which has since referred the case to the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Despite their firings, Rodriguez says termination alone is not enough. She is calling for criminal charges against both former teachers, saying her son’s disability made the abuse even more unacceptable. “It was devastating to watch,” she said, describing the heartbreak of seeing her nonverbal child mistreated by those meant to protect him.

The Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office has not yet announced whether criminal charges will be filed. Meanwhile, Rodriguez says her son has not returned to Wild Peach Elementary since the incident and that she is now working with attorneys to pursue legal action.

“This was supposed to be a safe place for my son,” Rodriguez said. “No parent should ever have to see something like that.”
