A woman has been arrested after allegedly attempting to kidnap a five-year-old boy from his grandmother’s SUV at a gas station in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Ivanna Nobile approached a parked SUV at a Shell gas station on Tuesday morning, opened the back door where the child was seated, and tried to pull the boy out of the vehicle. “I’m taking him,” Nobile allegedly told the grandmother, adding, “This child is the wrong color to be with this woman,” according to the arrest report.
Moments before attempting to grab the child, Nobile reportedly approached the grandmother and handed her what appeared to be an Argentinian identity card, claiming the person on the ID was her aunt. The grandmother said she did not think much of the strange encounter until Nobile suddenly opened the back door and began pulling on her grandson’s arm.

Authorities took Nobile into custody at the scene, where she refused to speak with investigators. The grandmother told police she has had custody of her grandson since January and had never seen or met Nobile before the incident.
Nobile appeared in court on Wednesday and was charged with false imprisonment of a child under 13 and burglary, according to Broward County jail records. A judge ordered her held on $60,000 bond.
Records also show that Nobile was arrested just over a month earlier, on September 17, for trespassing on school grounds in Palm Beach County. She is currently being held at the North Broward Bureau facility on an immigration hold.
Authorities have not yet determined why Nobile targeted the boy or what led up to the kidnapping attempt.
