Kevin Spacey Reveals He’s Now Homeless After Losing Millions Fighting Sexual Assault Allegations — But Says a Hollywood Comeback Is Still Possible

Kevin Spacey says he is now effectively homeless, eight years after sexual assault allegations derailed his career, wiped out his savings, and forced him out of the Hollywood spotlight. The 66-year-old actor revealed in a new interview with The Telegraph that he recently lost the Baltimore home where he lived for more than a decade and now moves from one temporary stay to another.

“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs,” Spacey said. “I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home.”

The collapse of Spacey’s career began in 2017, when he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple men for incidents allegedly occurring between 2004 and 2013 during his tenure as artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre. British authorities charged him with nine criminal counts, including sexual assault and forcing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. Spacey denied every allegation.

Although he was acquitted of all nine charges in July 2023 and won the 2022 civil lawsuit filed by actor Anthony Rapp, the damage to his career was already done. The accusations torpedoed decades of Hollywood success, leading studios, directors, and streaming platforms to cut ties with him overnight.

Spacey said the financial fallout has been devastating. “The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” he admitted. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.” With his belongings in storage and no long-term residence, he described his life as strangely similar to the beginning of his acting career — except now he is trying to reclaim a legacy instead of build one from scratch.

Despite Hollywood’s silence, Spacey claims he still has powerful supporters behind the scenes. He believes major industry figures are simply waiting for the right moment — or the right endorsement — to bring him back. “My feeling is if Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call my manager Evan tomorrow, it will be over,” he said. “I would be incredibly honored and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone.”

Whether such a call will ever come remains uncertain, especially given the risk studios perceive in casting the once-revered actor. Still, Spacey is slowly rebuilding his career. His latest released film is the 2024 Italian thriller The Contract, and he has several new projects already in production, including the sci-fi feature Holiguards Saga — The Portal of Force, which he is also directing. He has also been performing his stage show, Kevin Spacey: Songs & Stories, with recent appearances in New York City and Cyprus.

Spacey says the past several years have changed him. Accepting a lifetime achievement award at the Better World Fund Gala in Cannes earlier this year, he said he had emerged “not angry, not bitter, not resentful, but more present, more loving, more understanding and more forgiving.”

But the central question lingers: Will Hollywood — an industry that once showered him with awards and prestige — ever be ready to let Kevin Spacey return? The actor insists he’s prepared for a comeback. Whether the entertainment world is prepared to take him back is something only time will reveal.
