Fresno County authorities have identified 43-year-old Carolina Godinez as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred in Orange Cove, California, on Thanksgiving Day. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity on Friday.
The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. near the intersection of 9th Street and J Street, in a residential neighborhood. Deputies arrived to find Godinez suffering from a gunshot wound outside a home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, a second person was also injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. No details about that individual’s condition have been released.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit and the Crime Scene Unit responded to begin investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing. At this time, authorities have not released information about a suspect or a possible motive, and identifying who is responsible remains a key focus of the ongoing investigation.
