Husband and Wife, Dr. Eric Cordes and Vicki Cordes, Fatally Shot at Their Simi Valley Home in Double Homicide

Dr. Eric Cordes and his wife Vicki Cordes were killed Sunday in a double shooting at their home in Simi Valley, California.

Simi Valley police responded just after 12 p.m. to reports of gunfire in a neighborhood on Hawks Bill Place, near Wood Ranch Parkway. When officers arrived, they discovered a man and woman in their 60s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the garage of the residence.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite emergency efforts, they succumbed to their injuries.

Authorities initially described the victims only as a married couple in their 60s, but Adventist Health Simi Valley, Dr. Cordes’ longtime employer, later confirmed the identities of the deceased as Dr. Eric Cordes, a respected radiologist, and his wife Vicki.

In a statement, Adventist Health expressed deep grief:
“The Adventist Health Simi Valley community is heartbroken by the tragic deaths of our longtime colleague, Dr. Eric Cordes, and his wife, Vicki. Dr. Cordes was a highly respected, board-certified radiologist and beloved physician who served this community with compassion and excellence for nearly 30 years. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all who worked alongside him as we grieve this shocking loss.”

Dr. Cordes was widely recognized for his medical expertise and award-winning work in patient safety.

Neighbors Reported a Man Firing Multiple Rounds

Residents told investigators they saw an unidentified man exit a vehicle and fire several shots before fleeing the area. Police have not yet announced any arrests.

Possible Link to Suicide and Car Fire in San Bernardino County

Authorities are investigating a possible connection between the double homicide and a separate incident in Ayala Park, San Bernardino County, where a man was found dead by suicide inside a burning vehicle. According to ABC 7, a detective familiar with the case acknowledged that neighbors speculated the deceased individual may be the stepson of one of the victims, though no official confirmation has been made.

Simi Valley police believe the shooting was an isolated incident. A motive remains unknown, and officials continue to urge anyone with information to contact investigators as the case unfolds.
