Jared Noll Arrested After Fatal Shooting of His Mother and Injury of Father in New Freeport, Pennsylvania; No Motive Announced

Jared Noll, an 18-year-old man from New Freeport, Pennsylvania, is in custody after authorities say he fatally shot his mother and injured his father during a violent incident at their home in Greene County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were dispatched to a residence along Garrison Ridge Road in Freeport Township on Friday, December 26, following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult woman and an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds outside the home.

The female victim was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she later died from her injuries. The male victim, identified as the suspect’s father, was also taken to the same hospital and later released in stable condition.

Authorities said Jared Noll fled the scene on foot, disappearing into the wooded area surrounding the residence. At the time of the shooting, Noll’s younger siblings were present inside the home but were not injured, police confirmed.

An extensive search followed, and West Virginia State Police arrested Noll without incident on Saturday in Hundred, West Virginia, approximately one day after the shooting. His arrest came after investigators received a tip from the public, officials said.

Police have not yet released the name of the deceased woman, though authorities believe she was Noll’s mother. Her identity is currently being confirmed by the West Virginia Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.

At this time, no motive has been identified, and investigators have not released details regarding what may have led to the shooting. The case remains under active investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.

Officials said additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
