ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Retuquel Dupree has been arrested in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 7-year-old daughter following a reported incident inside a Roseville home, according to local authorities.
Police said officers were called to a residence on Oahu Court, north of Blue Oaks Boulevard, around 7:37 a.m. Monday after an adult inside the home reported an unresponsive child. When first responders arrived, they found a 7-year-old girl deceased. A second child, a 5-year-old, was also found injured and was transported for medical treatment. That child is expected to survive.
Investigators arrested Retuquel Dupree, 27, and Jessica Savangsy, 26, who police said were in a dating relationship and lived together at the home. Savangsy is the mother of both children involved in the case.
Both Dupree and Savangsy were booked into the South Placer County Jail on multiple charges, including murder, conspiracy, and felony child abuse, authorities confirmed.
Police have not released additional details about what led to the child’s death, citing the ongoing investigation. Officials also have not clarified each suspect’s specific role in the incident.
Authorities confirmed that Dupree was previously employed by the Citrus Heights Police Department from June 8 to August 5, 2021. The department said he was terminated from his position but declined to provide further details regarding his role or the circumstances surrounding his dismissal.
The case remains under investigation, and additional charges are possible as detectives continue to review evidence.
