Sina Evolve Identified as Second Victim in Fatal Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Crash Involving Anthony Joshua

Sina Evolve has been identified as the second person who died in a fatal road accident involving world-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The crash occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, near the Sinoma area of Sagamu, Ogun State.

In a statement, the FRSC confirmed that the incident involved a black Lexus Jeep conveying Anthony Joshua and a stationary red commercial truck parked along the roadside. Preliminary reports from the Ogun State Sector Command indicate that the crash happened at approximately 12:00 p.m. and was promptly reported to authorities.

FRSC operatives arrived at the scene within three minutes of notification, allowing for immediate rescue operations, evacuation of victims, traffic control, and prevention of secondary crashes.

The collision involved two vehicles: a black Lexus Jeep (private vehicle) and a stationary red Sinotruck with an unknown registration number. A total of five adult males were involved. Two individuals, including Sina Evolve, lost their lives, one person sustained injuries, and two others escaped unharmed. Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The injured victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment, while the remains of the deceased were transported to Livewell Morgue in Ajaka, Sagamu. The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division (MTD) has been notified for further investigation and documentation.

According to preliminary findings, the Lexus Jeep was suspected to be traveling above the legally prescribed speed limit and lost control during an overtaking maneuver before colliding with the stationary truck. The FRSC identified excessive speed and wrongful overtaking as the primary causes of the crash—both of which remain leading contributors to fatal road accidents on Nigerian highways.

On behalf of the Corps, FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished Anthony Joshua and the injured survivor a speedy recovery.

The FRSC reiterated its warning to motorists to avoid excessive speed, dangerous overtaking, and disregard for traffic regulations, particularly on high-speed corridors such as the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Road users are urged to exercise patience, maintain lane discipline, and prioritize safety, especially during the festive travel period.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to safer roads through prompt emergency response, enforcement, and sustained public education aimed at reducing traffic-related fatalities nationwide.
