Firefighter Andrew Jimenez Allegedly Beats Wife Mayra Jimenez to Death After Reading Her Diary Confirming Infidelity

A California firefighter has been accused of committing a shocking act of domestic violence after allegedly killing his wife moments after reading her personal diary. Glendale firefighter Andrew Jimenez, 45, allegedly bludgeoned his wife, Mayra Jimenez, 55, a Wilshire Park Elementary School teacher and union representative, with an axe at their home in Glassell Park.

According to authorities, Andrew flagged down officers at the Glendale Fire Department just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, claiming he was unable to reach his wife and requesting a welfare check. Responding officers discovered Mayra at the couple’s residence on the 5600 block of Satsuma Avenue. She had suffered severe blunt force trauma, and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. Investigators confirmed that the fatal injuries were caused by an axe found in the home.

Local outlets including Fox 11, KTLA, and KABC reported that Andrew Jimenez has been employed as a firefighter paramedic for the Glendale Fire Department since 2008. Following the incident, he was placed on administrative leave and relieved of duty.

Investigators say the killing occurred shortly after Andrew allegedly read Mayra’s diary, which reportedly contained entries confirming her infidelity. In a statement, Andrew’s attorney noted that the diary “verified infidelity by the decedent,” suggesting the alleged discovery may have motivated the crime.

Andrew Jimenez was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held on a $2 million bail. It is not yet clear if formal charges have been filed.

Mayra Jimenez, who worked as a union representative for United Teachers Los Angeles, was well-regarded in her community and mourned by colleagues, students, and friends. The tragedy underscores the devastating consequences of domestic violence, which continues to impact countless families nationwide.

The Glendale Fire Department emphasized their commitment to public safety and stated they are cooperating fully with law enforcement while the investigation continues.
