Heather Thompson, Waverly mom shoots and kills sons, grandmother then self

Emily Long, a mother from Madbury, New Hampshire, shot and killed her husband Ryan Long, 48, and two of their children, Parker Long, 8, and Ryan Long, 6, before taking her own life on the morning of Monday, August 18. A toddler in the home was unharmed.

Autopsy results confirmed that the children died from gunshot wounds, Ryan Long was shot multiple times, and Emily Long died from a single gunshot wound. The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office reported that the tragic deaths occurred in the early morning hours and are classified as a murder-suicide.

Ryan Long had been battling brain cancer prior to his death. Emily Long had shared her family struggles on social media, describing herself as a “Brain Cancer Wife” and documenting her emotional challenges online.

Authorities said the circumstances leading to the tragedy are complex, and no single motive has been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
