Crosby Lee Ruff Jr. is publicly standing by his wife, Dayna Ruff, amid allegations of an inappropriate workplace relationship involving Andre Reece, a senior employee with the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT).
The allegations stem from a City of Detroit Office of Inspector General (OIG) report, which found that two DDOT employees engaged in inappropriate romantic conduct while on duty, abandoned a city bus, and were later given discipline that allegedly violated department policy.
Findings From the Inspector General’s Report
According to the OIG, an anonymous complaint received in June prompted an investigation into the conduct of Senior Transportation Service Inspector Andre Reece and Transportation Equipment Operator Dayna Ruff.
The report concluded that the two employees met repeatedly during work shifts in May and July 2025. In one incident on May 6, investigators uncovered video footage showing Reece and Ruff engaging in intimate physical contact inside a bus.
The OIG report further stated that Reece reported an unsubstantiated mechanical issue, took the bus out of service, and drove Ruff to a fast-food restaurant. This action allegedly disrupted public transportation service for approximately 115 minutes.
Additional Incidents Cited
Another incident detailed in the report occurred on May 20, when investigators say Reece and Ruff met multiple times along Ruff’s assigned route. At one point, the report states, the pair abandoned the bus while it was still running, further violating department procedures.
Personal Fallout and Public Reaction
Following public disclosure of the OIG findings, attention turned to Ruff’s personal life. Despite the allegations, her husband, Crosby Lee Ruff Jr., has remained supportive, standing by his wife as the situation continues to generate discussion online and within the community.
Department Response
The OIG report criticized the disciplinary actions taken, stating that the penalties imposed were lenient and inconsistent with department policy. The findings have sparked renewed scrutiny of workplace conduct, oversight, and accountability within the Detroit Department of Transportation.
No criminal charges were announced in connection with the report, and the matter remains an administrative and internal disciplinary issue.
