Mazatlán authorities arrested truck driver Mbo Edwin after his heavy-duty trailer became stuck in the sand while he attempted to take photos with his girlfriend on Playa Norte.

What began as a romantic gesture and a social media photoshoot quickly turned into a public spectacle and administrative incident on Wednesday night, drawing crowds and requiring a coordinated security response.

Edwin, operating a tractor-trailer belonging to Castores Transport, drove the vehicle directly onto the sandy beach, ignoring safety regulations and environmental rules. The maneuver caused a traffic disruption along the Mazatlán boardwalk and left onlookers describing the scene as “historic” and “surreal.”

Police, preventive officers, and lifeguard personnel responded to the scene to oversee extraction efforts and ensure public safety. Officials coordinated a multi-agency operation to free the stuck vehicle and restore order along the crowded beachfront.

Reports indicate Edwin deliberately left the asphalt roadway to enter the sand in order to capture high-quality photos and videos with his girlfriend, taking advantage of the picturesque coastal setting of Mazatlán.
