Mystery After Chicago Special Education Teacher Linda Brown Vanishes While En Route to Acupuncture Appointment

Linda Brown, a 53-year-old Chicago Public Schools special education teacher, has gone missing after leaving her Bronzeville home to attend a scheduled acupuncture appointment.

According to Chicago police, Brown was last seen on January 3 in the 4500 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, near her residence. She was reportedly headed to Wicker Park for a routine acupuncture session but never arrived and has not been seen or heard from since.

Brown’s husband, Antwon Brown, said he last saw his wife Friday night when they watched a movie together before going to bed. When he woke up the following morning around 8:35 a.m., she was gone. He initially believed she had left for her appointment, as she routinely attends acupuncture on Saturdays.

Concern grew when Brown failed to show up for the appointment and could not be reached by phone. Antwon said his wife typically checks in and communicates her plans, which did not happen that day. Family members spent hours retracing her steps and contacting area hospitals, but no leads have emerged.

Police say Brown left home with her phone, purse, and credit cards, and may have been driving a blue Honda Civic with Illinois license plate CX57470. Authorities believe she could be in or around the 2200 block of West North Avenue and note that she may be in need of medical assistance.

Brown teaches at Robert Healy Elementary School in Bridgeport. The school’s principal notified families of her disappearance, stating that the school is working with the CPS Crisis Management Unit to support students and staff during the ongoing situation.

Linda Brown is described as 5 feet tall, weighing 130 to 140 pounds, with a fair complexion. She was last seen wearing a long black puffy coat and shiny UGG-style boots.

Chicago police are asking anyone with information regarding Linda Brown’s whereabouts to contact the Area One Special Victims Unit at 312-747-8380.
