A husband has been arrested and charged in connection with the killing of his wife after initially claiming her death resulted from a home invasion in Tipp City, Ohio.
Authorities say Caleb Carl Flynn, 39, is facing one count of homicide in the shooting death of his 37-year-old wife, Ashley Flynn, along with two counts of felonious assault and two counts of tampering with evidence. Officers were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. Monday to the couple’s residence following a report of a burglary and shooting. When police arrived, they encountered Flynn and the couple’s two children and found Ashley inside the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier in the week, Police Chief Greg Adkins said evidence indicated the killing appeared targeted rather than a random break-in, describing the case as complex with “a lot of moving parts.” After several days of investigation involving multiple agencies, authorities announced Flynn’s arrest and formal charges.
Community members in Tipp City have expressed shock and grief following Ashley Flynn’s death. Prayer ribbons appeared along Main Street, and local restaurant Red Devil Pizza & Deli, owned by Jason Pierce, organized a fundraiser weekend with proceeds dedicated to supporting the family.
Investigators credited partner agencies for helping advance the case and said the investigation remains ongoing. Future updates will be handled by the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office as the case proceeds through the court system.
