Gig Harbor Tragedy: Zoya Shablykin and Three Neighbors Fatally Stabbed by Son Aleksandr Shablykin, Suspect Shot Dead by Deputies

A horrific quadruple killing unfolded in Gig Harbor, Washington, when 32-year-old Aleksandr Aleksand Shablykin allegedly stabbed his mother, Zoya Shablykin, 52, and three neighbors outside her home before being shot dead by responding deputies.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) reported that the initial 911 call came in at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday as an “Order Violation in Progress.” Zoya had previously filed a protection order against her son in April, citing threats, physical abuse, and occult behavior, including claims that he believed himself to be an Egyptian god. The order had not yet been served when Aleksandr arrived at the home.

Deputies were en route to deliver the order when they received reports around 9:30 a.m. that multiple people were being stabbed outside the residence on 87th Avenue Court Northwest. By 9:33 a.m., deputies confronted the suspect, who was armed with knives, and fatally shot him.

Zoya Shablykin and three neighbors who tried to intervene were killed; one victim died en route to the hospital, while the identities of the three neighbors remain unreleased. Witnesses described seeing at least one victim stabbed in the street, with bodies covered by white sheets after the attack.

Family friends confirmed the tragic circumstances, noting that Shablykin had a history of mental health issues and sporadically lived at the family home. Zoya’s daughter, Anastasia, 30, and her 11-year-old child were safely away from the scene. The family, Russian immigrants, are now coping with the devastating loss while planning a fundraiser for Zoya’s funeral.

The PCSO confirmed that the suspect’s prior threats, mental health history, and the unserved protection order were factors leading up to the violent incident. Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the stabbings.

Witnesses described the event as surreal, highlighting the quiet cul-de-sac that was shattered by the attack, which left the community in shock.
