A Dayton, Ohio man, Jayme Rogers, 34, allegedly shot his girlfriend, Jaime Dick, 33, early Tuesday morning because he believed she was cheating on him, telling a 911 dispatcher that she “got what she deserved” and he wasn’t “going out without a fight,” according to court documents.
Dick, a mother of two, was found dead inside her running car near her home around 2 a.m., according to an arrest affidavit obtained by local CBS affiliate WHIO. Rogers reportedly called 911 himself to report the shooting, admitting to police that he fired three times at Dick over suspicions of infidelity.
“Get here quick, someone is shot,” Rogers said at the start of the 911 call. “[Dick] got what she deserved,” he allegedly told the dispatcher, the Dayton Daily News reports.
When officers arrived, Rogers walked out of a nearby residence and repeatedly admitted to shooting Dick. Investigators recovered bullet casings near the vehicle, including on the street and sidewalk, and noted damage to the passenger window.Rogers was taken into custody and charged with murder, felonious assault, having weapons while under disability, and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises. His bond was set at $1 million, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 20.
Dick is remembered by family and friends as a loving mother and sister. Her obituary reads:
“Jaime will be remembered as a loving mom, a devoted daughter, and the very best sister a family could ever ask for. She was a beautiful soul in every sense of the word, inside and out, whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.”
