Krystal Rose Farmer Arrested After Police Say She Abandoned Special-Needs Children in Filthy Flint Township Home

A Michigan mother is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say she left her two special-needs children alone for days in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

According to prosecutors, Krystal Rose Farmer was charged Feb. 20, 2026, with two counts of felony child abandonment, four counts related to second-degree child abuse, and one count of lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation. Court records show an arraignment date has not yet been set.

Police said officers responded to the home after a neighbor called 911 requesting a welfare check. Inside, they reported conditions so severe that trash covered the floors, water was running continuously from a faucet, and feces were smeared along walls. Investigators said there was no prepared food available and no communication devices for the children to contact anyone for help.

Authorities stated one child was found attempting to eat raw, spoiled meat due to hunger, while the other was curled up on a bedroom floor. Officers determined the children had been left alone for multiple days.

The children were removed from the residence and placed in safety. Officials credited the concerned neighbor whose call prompted the welfare check, emphasizing that the intervention likely prevented a far worse outcome.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
