The Madison County School District says it has launched a formal investigation following a viral social media post that appears to show a district staff member using a racial slur.
In a statement shared on Facebook around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Superintendent Dr. Karen Pickles said district officials are treating the matter with urgency and seriousness. She emphasized that the language shown in the circulating post is “unacceptable” and directly contradicts the district’s core values and standards for staff conduct.
District leaders confirmed the investigation is being handled according to official policies and internal procedures. They did not immediately confirm details about the staff member’s employment status or whether disciplinary action has already been taken.
Local outlet WCTV reported that at least two separate incidents involving district staff are currently circulating online — one allegedly involving a male employee and another a female employee. Officials have not publicly verified whether the posts are authentic or related.
The district has not released additional information about the individuals involved as the inquiry remains ongoing.
