Authorities have identified Chris Collins as the truck driver who died in a crash on Highway 97 near Klamath Falls, Oregon, according to officials.
The Oregon Department of Transportation reported that the collision occurred around 9:20 a.m. and involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck just south of Modoc Point. Emergency crews responded to the scene, which blocked the highway in both directions for several hours.
Reports indicate that one of the vehicles became fully engulfed in flames following the collision. While authorities have not yet released all details, at least one person—later confirmed as Chris Collins—died as a result of the crash.
The Oregon State Police have stated that additional information will be released as their investigation continues. Officials noted that the crash underscores ongoing safety concerns along Highway 97, one of Southern Oregon’s busiest travel corridors.
