Natchez, Mississippi — A disturbing case out of Natchez has led to the arrest of 27-year-old April Kaye Alexander, who is accused of threatening her 4-month-old baby in messages sent to the child’s father. Authorities confirm the infant is now safe and in the custody of Child Protective Services.
According to the Natchez Police Department, Alexander was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly sending photos and videos that raised serious concerns for the child’s safety.
Police Chief Lee Best said the child’s father contacted 911 on Monday morning after receiving the disturbing content. The images reportedly showed the infant placed beneath a vehicle, with a person’s foot on the baby’s stomach. The father briefly shared the material on social media before deleting it.
Officers quickly launched an investigation and located the infant, who was safely removed from the situation. Authorities confirmed the child is now under the care of Child Protective Services.During the search for Alexander, investigators say two individuals — Jessica Griffin and Dandridge Coats — attempted to hide her from law enforcement. Both were arrested and are facing charges of hindering prosecution and rendering criminal assistance.
Alexander is currently being held by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues. Officials have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the incident but confirmed the case remains active.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they continue to investigate.
