Five additional victims were injured, including four teenage females, ages 14, 15, 17, and 19, and an 18-year-old male. Their injuries range from minor to critical, and they were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Police emphasized that some of the injured may have been involved in the exchange of gunfire.
Authorities located the injured victims near 3474 Robinhood Road, not far from the park. In accordance with North Carolina law, the names of juvenile victims have not been released.
Ongoing Investigation
Chief William H. Penn of the Winston-Salem Police Department said the incident remains under active investigation. Detectives are working to determine the exact role each individual played and how many firearms were involved. Officials stressed that information will be released only after it is verified and urged the public to avoid spreading unconfirmed reports.
Leinbach Park is near a local middle school, but police confirmed that students and staff were safe during the incident.
