Jakhala Moss, LaGrange Mother of Two, and 18-Year-Old Jamarcus “JJ” Kennedy Killed in Shooting at Cameron Crossing Apartment Complex, Police Say

A LaGrange mother of two and an 18-year-old man were shot and killed Monday evening at an apartment complex, according to the LaGrange Police Department.

Officers responded around 5:35 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Meadow Trace at the Cameron Crossing Apartment Complex.

When officers arrived, they discovered two victims: 26-year-old Jakhala Moss in the parking lot and 18-year-old Jamarcus Kennedy inside Moss’s apartment. Both were found unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities said Kennedy, who was known as “JJ,” ran into Moss’s apartment after being shot and collapsed inside before officers arrived. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Moss, identified as a mother of two children—a boy and a girl—was described as one of the victims targeted in the shooting.

Investigators say two male suspects approached the apartment building on foot and opened fire on both victims before fleeing the area.

Police have not released information about what led to the shooting, and no suspects have been identified at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
