Meredith Haskew Grant, Chattanooga Softball Coach, Arrested After On-Field Altercation Caught on Video During Youth Game

A youth softball coach from Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been arrested after a viral video appeared to show her assaulting two opposing coaches during a recent 8-and-under game, according to widely shared social media posts.

The coach was identified as Meredith Haskew Grant, who is reportedly affiliated with an 8U Fury travel softball team based in the Chattanooga area.

In video footage circulating on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, a woman wearing a Fury jersey is seen rushing toward and colliding with at least one opposing coach during what appears to be a post-game or in-game confrontation. Several adults and young players can be seen nearby as the altercation unfolds.

The video was originally shared by a well-known amateur baseball and softball content creator known as “The Tattooed Ump,” and quickly gained traction online.

In a follow-up update accompanying the footage, the creator stated that Grant was later arrested and booked on a battery charge. Additional charges, including possible child endangerment, are reportedly under review due to the presence of children on the field at the time of the incident.

As of early Monday, local law enforcement agencies had not publicly released an official report or independently confirmed the details of the arrest.

Grant is a former multi-sport athlete and a 2007 graduate of East Ridge High School, where she competed in volleyball, softball, and basketball. She previously set school records in volleyball for career, single-season, and per-match digs.

She was also recognized as a key contributor to East Ridge’s 2005 state championship volleyball team. In 2024, she was inducted into the East Ridge Pioneers Athletic Hall of Fame, according to reports.

The incident remains under scrutiny as authorities review the circumstances surrounding the on-field altercation.
