Cornell Davis, Known as Playbwoi Tha Great, Shot Dead in Indianapolis; Police Investigating East Side Shooting

The Indianapolis music community is mourning the loss of local rapper and producer Playbwoi Tha Great, whose real name was Cornell Davis, following a fatal shooting on the city’s east side.

According to early reports, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded Tuesday night to the 6000 block of Windsor Drive, near East 21st Street and Arlington Avenue. When they arrived, they found a man inside a home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While authorities have not yet officially released the victim’s identity, multiple reports and members of the local music community have identified the deceased as Davis.

Davis was well known in Indianapolis’ hip-hop scene and had built a following through his music and collaborations. He was also recognized by some fans for his past association with rapper Lil Boosie.
