Jordan Tarver won’t be able to walk at his graduation after being harassed by some boys over a girl at Auburndale High School. His mother, Amanda Gaskin, took to social media to share her heartbreak and ask for prayers.
Amanda wrote that Jordan, who lost both of his parents and has worked hard to rise above trauma and loss, had ended a relationship three weeks prior. Since then, another young man targeted him with threatening messages, social media posts, taunting, and repeated attempts to provoke him into a fight. Jordan ignored the harassment, focusing instead on graduating and his future.
At graduation practice, the aggressor confronted Jordan, but school administrators intervened. Jordan was not disciplined as he was not the aggressor. Later, the situation escalated outside school: Jordan was followed, pushed, taunted, and physically provoked by a group of boys while walking to his car. When he defended himself, he escaped to his father’s location at Home Depot in Winter Haven.
Amanda described how the boys chased Jordan in two cars at high speeds, even banging on his car window at a red light. The harassment continued until law enforcement became involved. Despite this, Jordan was informed he would not be allowed to participate in graduation, a moment his mother says has been taken from him after already enduring so much in life. She asked for prayers for Jordan’s heart, future, protection, and peace over their family, emphasizing the emotional toll on herself as a mother. “Lord, fight this battle for us because we are tired,” she wrote.
