Tragic Murder-Suicide in Carrollton: Sharika Kiera Porter Killed by Husband Switzon Porter

Carrollton police say a man fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself at River Pointe Apartments on Lovvorn Road, in what investigators are calling a domestic murder-suicide.

Authorities identified the couple as 35-year-old Sharika Kiera Porter and her husband, 39-year-old Switzon Porter.

Officers were called to the apartment complex Monday after a family member discovered the bodies inside the unit and contacted 911. Police said both Sharika and Switzon were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the incident followed an argument between the couple. According to police, Switzon Porter shot his wife before taking his own life. No other suspects are being sought.

Sharika Porter’s father shared a tribute on social media, describing her as a caring and generous person who “would go out of her way to help anyone.” He also said the family is now focused on supporting her three sons following the tragedy.

Carrollton police said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue reviewing evidence and speaking with relatives and neighbors.
