Saul Esquivel Kills Estranged Wife Nubia Bravo Outside Neni’s Daycare in Donna, Texas Before Taking His Own Life

Authorities in Donna, Texas have confirmed a tragic murder-suicide that occurred outside a local daycare Tuesday afternoon, leaving a woman dead and her estranged husband deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra told KRGV that 41-year-old Saul Esquivel shot and killed his wife, 26-year-old Nubia Bravo, outside Neni’s Daycare on Stites Road around 3 p.m. before turning the gun on himself.

Investigators described the incident as an apparent act of domestic violence.

According to officials, Bravo was working at the daycare when her estranged husband arrived unannounced while she was picking up her child. The two had reportedly been separated after Esquivel was caught cheating.

Sheriff Guerra stated that Esquivel forced his way into the daycare, where five children were inside. Bravo reportedly led him away from the children to prevent harm, before attempting to run out the back door.

Esquivel followed her outside, shot her, and then laid next to her before taking his own life.

None of the children were physically harmed, though officials believe they may have heard the gunshots. The children have since been released into the care of relatives.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
