A pastor from St. John’s Apostolic Church in South Africa is at the center of controversy after a viral video surfaced allegedly showing him engaged in an inappropriate act with a female church member wearing her uniform.
According to reports circulating online, the unnamed pastor appears in the short clip with a woman believed to be a choir or chorister member of the church. The alleged incident is said to have taken place within the church premises, sparking outrage among viewers and members of the Christian community.
Captions accompanying the viral video in local languages have amplified the story’s reach across South Africa. The Xhosa caption reads, “Umfundisi esabelana ngesondo nelungu lecawe (ikwayala) kwicawe yaseSt John,” while the Zulu caption states, “Umfundisi enza ucansi nelungu lesonto (ikhwaya) esontweni iSt John’s.” Both translate to “A pastor engaging in a sexual act with a choir member inside St. John’s Church.”
The footage has generated widespread backlash, with social media users calling the behavior disrespectful and unbecoming of a religious leader. Others have urged caution, stressing that the video’s authenticity and context have not been independently verified.
So far, officials from St. John’s Apostolic Church have not released a public statement addressing the allegations or confirming the identities of those involved. Authorities have also not indicated whether an internal or legal investigation is underway.
Community leaders and online commentators have reminded the public that sharing or distributing explicit content without consent could violate South Africa’s Cybercrimes Act, which prohibits the unlawful distribution of intimate images.
