Emanuel Greenwalt-Claypool Arrested in Deadly Lincoln Casey’s Gas Station Shooting

Lincoln, NE – Police have arrested 23-year-old Emanuel Greenwalt-Claypool of Lincoln in connection with a deadly shooting inside a Casey’s gas station on Thursday, December 4, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

Officers responded at 11:11 a.m. to the Casey’s located near 13th and E Streets after multiple 911 callers reported gunfire inside the store. When officers arrived, they found two gunshot victims. One victim later died at the hospital, while the second suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police: Disturbance Outside Escalated Into Inside Shooting

According to LPD Lt. Dustin Romshek, investigators believe a disturbance began outside the gas station and moved indoors, where Greenwalt-Claypool opened fire. Police say the surviving victim was not the intended target, but was struck by gunfire “due to the many shots that were fired.”

Suspect Remained at the Scene and Surrendered

Police said Greenwalt-Claypool remained at the scene after the shooting, surrendered his firearm, and cooperated with officers. He was not injured.

He was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Second-degree murder

  • Use of a firearm to commit a felony

  • Second-degree assault

Casey’s Closed as Investigators Process Evidence

The gas station will remain closed for an extended period as detectives collect physical and digital evidence from the scene.
